Sunita was born in London and has lived in the London Borough of Brent for over 35 years. She graduated with a BA Hons in Business Studies at Hertfordshire University. Her full-time job is a Project Manager for a well-known IT Company. During her career she was a Metropolitan Police Special Constable which then led her to become a Police Constable in the Borough of Barnet followed by the Borough of Camden, having worked in Policing for more than 10 years she decided to return to Project Management as she become a mother. When she moved home from Wembley to Kenton in 2017, she became an active resident challenging Brent Council on several local issues which led to her becoming elected in May 2022. Sunita is a highly active voluntary professional and a Director of the Brook Way Community Biodiversity Project in Kenton, also the only qualified Tai Chi Instructor in the Borough and Swim Instructor for the Harrow Scouts & Guides Swimming Club. She can speak Gujarati and Hindu by faith. She was the first female Asian Conservative councillor to be elected in Kenton Ward.
Sunita was elected as councillor for the Kenton Ward in 2022. She is currently sits on the Corporate Parenting Scrutiny Committee, Kenton Safer Neighbourhoods Panel, Friends of Woodcock Park, and Kenton Area Traders Association Panel.
Sunita has particular interest in the Environment, the state of Brent's roads and pavements, parks, and open spaces. Protecting green and open spaces from development to ensure our children have areas to play and explore, reducing pollution and poor air quality and supporting all measures possible to encourage walking and the introduction of cycling routes to protect the environment as well as our resident’s health and wellbeing. Sunita has promoted Biodiversity in Kenton and is currently working with several schools on various projects to “Green Kenton” having obtained over £100k worth of community grants.
